In October, three teachers and 11 students from Victoria state university, Australia, who are majoring in preschool education, had a one-week exchange with Suzhou vocational university. They discussed the curriculum of preschool education, experienced Chinese culture and visited many Chinese kindergartens.
Zhang Lu from the school of foreign languages gave a lecture on Chinese characters, which made foreign students feel the charm of Chinese language and culture. The students walked into teacher Wang Ping's class in the school of education and humanities and had an interactive exchange with the students of the Sino-foreign cooperative class of preschool education in our university. In addition, the university arranged teachers and students to visit the experimental kindergarten in Wuzhong District of Suzhou and the kindergarten affiliated to Nantong university to observe the classroom teaching of the kindergarten and learn about the teacher training, cultural construction and kindergarten-based curriculum of the kindergarten. Australian teacher Susan works as the head of a kindergarten in Australia. She has communicated with Chinese kindergarten teachers for many times to discuss the similarities and differences of the operation of kindergartens in China and Australia. The Chinese teachers were impressed by the enthusiasm and eagerness of the overseas students.
Suzhou vocational university is a base for overseas students from many vocational colleges in Australia. This activity is the first time for SVU to receive short-term overseas students at the undergraduate level in Australia. Australian leader Priscilla, on behalf of the visiting delegation, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and careful arrangement of SVU and hoped to have more cooperation opportunities with SVU in the future.
